About Pocket Monkey

Pocket money teaches spending. We teach growth.

Most kids learn to spend and save. Few ever feel what it is like when money starts working for them. Pocket Monkey closes that gap with a safe place to practice investing as a family.

What kids usually learn

  • Money disappears when you spend it
  • Saving means waiting for something you want
  • Investing is a word adults use on the news

What Pocket Monkey adds

  • Ownership: picking companies and building a portfolio
  • Weekly earnings funded by parents, not magic money
  • Compounding: reinvest more and watch next week's transfer grow

What we believe

Practice before real risk

Kids learn buy, sell, and reinvest in a simulated portfolio. The lesson lands without putting family savings on the line.

Growth you can actually see

Weekly transfers, reinvestment choices, and a rising balance make compounding tangible, not something you only read about.

Parents set the rules

You choose the growth rate, fund the returns, and decide when to connect a bank. Pocket Monkey is a tool families control together.

Founder's story

Some people never experience the moment when investing finally clicks—when a dividend lands in their account or an investment grows while they sleep. It's the moment you realise money can work for you, not just because you work for it.

I had that moment after my mum encouraged me to buy my first shares at 19. When my first ETF dividends started arriving, I finally understood the power of ownership and compounding.

Years later, I wanted my nephew Heath to experience that lesson much earlier than I did.

That's why I built Pocket Monkey.

Instead of simply giving kids pocket money each week, Pocket Monkey lets them build a portfolio of virtual companies that pay real weekly pocket money. They can spend it, save it or reinvest it, watching their income grow over time.

My hope is that every child using Pocket Monkey grows up knowing something many adults never discover: wealth isn't built only by working harder—it's also built by owning assets that work for you.

Pocket Monkey is an educational tool for families. It is not a bank, broker, or financial product issuer. Simulated growth rates are for illustration only and do not represent real market returns.
